Flora
Red-Stem-Filaree-near-Sedona.jpg

Red-Stem Filaree near Sedona. This plant is not native to Arizona or North America, but it (along with many similar varieties) is one of the earliest and most widespread invasive species, introduced centuries ago. That notwithstanding, its tiny, intricate flowers appear in the spring here in the Southwest and are quite attractive when viewed up close. To capture this pair, I spent a couple hours just after dawn crawling around near a local trailhead.
