Cathedral Rock at Sunset. Here’s some happy news… I actually captured this image around 12 years ago (summer of 2010), and posted it shortly thereafter. What’s new is that I was asked by a Hollywood production company (NBC Universal) for a license to use it in an episode of the poignant comedy series Loot, which is now streaming on Apple TV+. It’s probably no surprise to you that I said ‘yes’, and then worked up this new version of the image to send them.
In episode 4 of the series, Molly (played by Maya Rudolph) discovers that she owns an art gallery as a result of her divorce settlement (she unknowingly owns A LOTTA stuff – her net worth is $87 billion). She and her accountant Arthur (Nat Faxon) go visit the gallery and comment on a large print of my image on the wall there (it’s kinda nice to hear a famous actress say that my composition “checks all the boxes” for Southwestern art – though in all fairness, I suspect it was the scriptwriter who put those words in her mouth…). They then turn around to view other pieces, and my image serves as the backdrop for their next few lines.
So we recommend that you watch the series, not just because they have (we think) excellent taste in art, but also because it’s well written and has interesting plot twists with appealing and well-developed characters. Enjoy!
