Getting to Totality. I went out with my friend Doug Koepsel to photograph the Super Flower Blood Moon – the total lunar eclipse of Sunday, May 14, 2022 (Arizona time). It wasn’t, unfortunately, a very favorable night for it because the sky was pretty cloudy around Sedona. But patience sometimes pays off, and such was the case that evening when the clouds parted enough to capture this image just as the last rays of sunlight vacated the lunar surface. The dark patches on the moon’s lower half are small clouds that insisted on photobombing the shot.
