Globe Mallow along Phone Trail. Sphaeralcea ambigua (as it calls itself on formal occasions) is common throughout the Southwest and in northwestern Mexico, and since it’s a perennial it blooms reliably even after a dry winter. This one, residing near the Courthouse Vista trailhead south of Sedona, welcomes a steady stream of hikers entering the network of trails in the area.<br />
