The Release: Young Cooper's Hawk, Cornville, Arizona © 2016 James D Peterson. This youngster was raised in a wildlife shelter after it fell out of its nest. It was carefully trained to fly and hunt, in preparation for the day when it could be released ffrom captivity. This is its first takeoff as a free and wild creature no longer dependent on humans.
