Early-Autumn-at-San-Francisco-Peaks.jpg

Early Autumn at San Francisco Peaks. I’ve lately been posting photos of splendid fall colors from our recent trip to Colorado, and I have many more to prepare and share. But now my home state, Arizona, started talking to me (no, not the state government, the state itself – doesn’t your state talk to you at least occasionally?) and accusing me of neglect. I certainly have a vested interest in placating Arizona, since I live here – and besides, Arizona has plenty of fine autumn scenery, all its own, to show off!
This scene is from a crisp October afternoon, following an early snowfall the night before, on the highest peak in the state, north of Flagstaff. The aspens here were a bit ambivalent about their autumn color changes at this point, but the ones in the foreground were happy to lead the way.
Tech info: Nikon D850 camera with Nikon 28-300mm lens at 34mm, 1/400 sec at f16, ISO 500.
