Fossil-Creek-Waterfall_by-Jim-Peterson.jpg

Fossil Creek Waterfall. This creek is officially designated as a “Wild and Scenic River”, and for good reason. Its mineral-laden blue water has cut a deep, rugged, riparian canyon from the Mogollon Rim to its confluence with the Verde River and has created many jagged travertine dams and deposits along the way. My friend Tom and I hiked into this popular but (surprisingly) unnamed waterfall via the Dixon Lewis trail to capture photos on a late October day. The tricky part was to capture this image with no people in the frame.
