The-Great-Dane_by_Jim-Peterson.jpg
The Great Dane. I initially thought this obscure New Mexico hoodoo could be called “Camelhead” – until I realized that might cause folks to confuse it with Santa Fe’s famous Camel Rock. But no matter; upon further reflection, I concluded it actually looks more like a Great Dane anyway. So that’s what I’ve named it.
It resides among The Bluffs, which are cliffs across the San Juan River from my hometown of Farmington, NM, and though I grew up there around 60 years ago, I only met this good doggie recently, when he was dressed up in warm sunrise light to welcome me.
I love this territory dearly and have spent untold hours and days exploring it. But I have a massive amount of it yet to cover, so I expect to be meeting many of his friends and relatives someday.
